Caesar-Mozzarella French Bread

Ingredients

  • 1/2 loaf (8 oz) French bread, cut horizontally in half
  • 1/4 cup creamy Caesar dressing
  • 8 oz sliced mozzarella cheese

Directions

    Heat oven to 450°F. On ungreased cookie sheet, place bread, cut sides up. Spread dressing on cut sides of bread. Top with cheese.

    Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until cheese is melted and edges begin to brown. Cut into slices. Serve immediately.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
    "Lite" creamy Caesar dressing will reduce the fat but not the flavor in this recipe. Also try all-skim mozzarella cheese to reduce the fat and calories even more.

    A bowl of piping-hot Minestrone with Italian Sausage (page 31) and a loaf of this cheesy bread make mealtime a snap.

    A quick way to add a boost of flavor and color is to sprinkle the hot cheese with chopped fresh basil or parsley just before serving.
