Like all our holiday favorites, this recipe for baked pineapple glazed ham has innumerable variations. Often prepared for Easter or New Year’s the pineapple ham makes a deliciously festive main dish, and visually it’s a 100/100. In this recipe, the addition of sweet cloves brings a special spiced element, and don’t forget to add those cherries for an extra touch of color. Ingredients

  • 1 fully cooked smoked bone-in half ham (10 to 12 lb)
  • 2 cans (8.5 oz each) sliced pineapple in heavy syrup
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1 cup whole maraschino cherries

Directions

    Heat oven to 325°F.

    Take ham out of its packaging and place on a shallow roasting pan lined with foil. If ham has not been sliced, use a knife to make approximately 1-inch cuts across the surface.

    In medium pot, add the pineapple syrup, sugar and cloves, and cook over medium heat for 20 minutes or until thickened.

    Let cool; then pour over the ham until you have covered the whole surface.

    Use a toothpick to attach the pineapple slices and cherries to the surface of ham.

    Bake 15 to 20 minutes per pound (about 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours) or until ham reaches an internal temperature of 140°F. To serve, place ham on large platter and slice as desired.
