When time is not on our side, canned tuna can be our best allies. Canned tuna is not just for salads; it can be used in pastas, tacos and even to make burgers. When I don’t have enough time to prepare dinner, I open up my pantry and find a couple of cans of tuna to prepare these delicious burgers. What I like about them most, aside from their delicious taste with lemon and jalapeño, is that I can have them ready in 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 4 (5 oz.) tuna cans, drained
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cups of bread crumbs
  • 1 lemon
  • 1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 fresh jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • Vegetable oil
  • Hamburger Bun
  • Guacamole, to taste
  • Lettuce, to taste
  • Tomato, to taste
  • Onion, to taste

Directions

    Mix the tuna, eggs and ground bread in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add the lemon juice, finely chopped onions, cilantro and garlic. Divide the mixture into 6 to 8 equal portions and create patties.

    Heat 2 to 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Fry the patties for 3 to 5 minutes on both sides or until completely browned.

    Serve the patties on burger buns with lettuce, tomato and guacamole. Enjoy!
