Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 lemon, zest and juice
  • 1 pint strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • 4 lemons, for serving

Directions

    In a pot on high heat, bring water and sugar to boil. Add lemon zest and let steep. Once you've created simple syrup, remove from heat.

    Purée cleaned and hulled strawberries with a blender. Once you've reached a thin consistency, add simple syrup and lemon juice. Check for desired sweetness level. Place in refrigerator to chill.

    Once chilled, pour mixture into ice cream maker. Follow manufacturer's instructions.

    While the sorbet churns, prepare the lemon cups by slicing a thin layer off the bottom of the lemon. This will help your lemon cups sit upright. Slice the other end of the lemon at approximately 1/4 from the top. With a spoon, remove pulp and seeds to create a hallowed lemon shell.

    Once the sorbet has reached the desired consistency, scoop into lemon cups. Place in freezer or serve immediately. Garnish with basil.
