Slow-Cooker BBQ Ribs

When I was still living in Colombia I frequently visited California on my vacations. My first stop upon arrival was always restaurants that served barbecue. I craved BBQ pork ribs, which are usually paired with a huge baked potato loaded with sour cream and bacon. Getting my barbecue fix was part of having a successful trip, which is why I made a point to find restaurants that served it. I’ve been living in the United States for 5 years now, and the first new dish I wanted to learn to prepare was this famous barbecue rib recipe. What better person to teach me than my mother-in-law! She gave me her traditional recipe, and I was surprised at how easy it is to follow, and how delicious the ribs turn out, every time. She cooks her ribs in the slow-cooker and once ready, seals in the flavor by baking them in the oven. You’ll love just how tender and flavorful they turn out.

Ingredients

  • 6-8 pork ribs
  • 1 (10 oz) can Progresso™ Chicken Broth
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
  • 1/4 tablespoon coarse black pepper
  • 1 bottle (28 oz) BBQ sauce

Directions

    Put the ribs in a slow cooker on high. Add the Progresso™ chicken broth and the salt and pepper. Smother with 1/4 bottle of BBQ sauce. Cover and let cook 7 hours.

    After 7 hours, preheat the oven to 350° F. Use tongs to remove the ribs from the slow-cooker and transfer them on a cookie sheet. Stir the sauce in the bottom of the slow-cooker with a spoon and pour it over the ribs. Smother with the remaining barbecue sauce (from the bottle). Bake for about 45 minutes and serve.
