Ingredients

For the multicolored gelatin eggs

  • 12 large eggs
  • 5 cups boiling water (one for each gelatin package)
  • 1 package red gelatin (4 servings each)
  • 1 package green gelatin
  • 1 package purple gelatin
  • 1 package orange gelatin
  • 1 package unflavored gelatin, 1 oz (use only three of the four envelopes)
  • 1 cup regular milk (for the white gelatin)
  • 1 can condensed milk (for the white gelatin)

Directions

  •
    1
Use a thick needle to poke a hole (not too big) in the round end of each egg.
  •
    2
Take out the white through the hole. When you poke the egg, you can place it under warm running water to let the white drain faster.
  •
    3
After you’ve emptied out all the eggs, immerse them in a bowl of water and vinegar for 15 minutes in order to remove bacteria and any residue that may be left inside. Then wash them with plenty of fresh water to get rid of the smell of vinegar.
  •
    4
Place the empty eggs in the carton they came in with the hole facing up. This makes your work easier and allows for more accuracy.
  •
    5
Cook each colored gelatin according to the instructions on the box. But instead of using two cups of water, use only 1 cup of boiling water, so that the gelatin comes out firmer. This process is repeated with each gelatin flavor. Once it’s cold, pour each colored gelatin into a different bowl. If it sets, put it back in the heat for no more than one minute to let it dissolve.
  •
    6
To make the white gelatin, heat one cup of regular milk over medium heat (don’t let it come to a boil) for one minute. Then pour it into the blender, with the can of condensed milk and the three envelopes of unflavored gelatin. Blend for 1 minute. Heat the mixture over medium heat for another minute.

Here you can let your children pour the gelatin through the little hole. For this step, you can use a disposable syringe without a needle or a dropper, or do it by hand. Every time you add a flavor, you should refrigerate the egg for at least fifteen minutes to allow the gelatin to set. This step is repeated for each color until the egg is completely filled. Then refrigerate the eggs for 3 hours to make them firm.
  •
    8
Prior to serving, place them in a strainer and let them soak under warm running water for 30 seconds. This makes it easier to remove the shell.
  •
    9
Place the gelatin eggs in a glass bowl. I had some leftover green gelatin and used it to form a sort of nest. I just used a flat knife to cut several thin strips. But I will leave its presentation to your imagination.

Color variations are a matter of preference. If you want to make the process simpler, you can use the same color for every one of them. These nice little eggs will be the highlight of your celebration. Neither children nor adults will be able to resist them. I guarantee it!
