White rice is delicious and a very popular side dish in Latin American cuisine. Cooking rice is easy but also serious business, as mastering the technique is essential to becoming a culinary expert! Today I’d like to share with you my secrets to preparing the perfect white rice. Let’s get cooking!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups long grain rice
  • 2 garlic cloves, mashed
  • 4 cups hot water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or safflower oil
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Directions

    Place a large pan on the stovetop, add oil and cook the garlic.

    Add sea salt and rice, and stir well with a wooden spoon.

    Add the hot water, lower heat and cover.

    Cook the rice for 20 minutes.

    Serve warm with slices of plantain or avocado.
