Ingredients

  • 8 oz uncooked multigrain linguine
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1 lb fresh asparagus spears, trimmed, cut diagonally into 1 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1 package (8 oz) fresh whole mushrooms, cut in half
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup shredded fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

    Cook linguine as directed on package, omitting salt and oil. Drain and return to saucepan; cover to keep warm.

    Meanwhile, in large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add garlic and pepper; cook and stir 30 seconds. Add asparagus, mushrooms, wine and salt. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cook uncovered 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until asparagus is crisp-tender. Remove from heat; stir in butter.

    Add linguine to skillet; toss gently to combine with vegetables. Sprinkle with basil and pepper flakes.
